On 18 July, ForAfrika joins South Africa and the rest of the world in commemorating and celebrating the iconic leader, Nelson Mandela. Madiba fought and stood for education, democracy and equality. He believed that education is the key to unlocking the future as well as to breaking multi-generational cycles of poverty.
Massive investments have gone into education in a bid to secure the future of the country. However, for real change to occur, development must start at an earlier stage. A critical time to shape productivity is from birth to age five when the brain is still developing. Adverse early environments create deficits in skills & abilities that drive down productivity and increase social costs — thereby adding to economic hardships borne by the public.
investing inyoung childrenis the best seed we can sow into the future.
ForAfrika will be honouring Mandela by adopting 67 new Early Childhood Development (ECD) centres from 18 July. Through this campaign, we seek to feed and assist at least 1,000 additional children.
