Businesses in the following sectors are especially encouraged to join:

  • Agriculture & Agri- Processing: Crop farming, agri-products, medicinal herbs, natural medicines, essential oils
  • Youth Development: Training providers, bridging programmes, and businesses creating opportunities for young people
  • Hospitality & Tourism: Accommodation, transport services, visitor experiences, arts, culture, and crafts
  • Community & Informal Businesses: Enterprises rooted in local heritage, culture, and community upliftment
  • Manufacturing & Mechanisation: Manufacturing, mechanisation, small-scale production and value-adding businesses
  • Environmental & Recycling: Waste management, e-waste, recycling, alien invasive vegetation clearing, wetlands protection, biodiversity projects

What are the minimum criteria to apply?

  • South African citizen over the age of 18
  • Business must be 100% Black-owned
  • Actively involved in your business full-time
  • Must have access to cellphone, computer, and email
  • Responsible for your own transport
  • Reside in one of the following areas: KwaMbonambi, KwaSokhulu, KwaMkhwanazi, KwaDube

What are the programme-specific criteria?

In addition to the above, applicants must meet the required following:

  • Business size: Either an Exempted Micro-Enterprise (EME) with annual revenue of R10 million or less, OR a Qualifying Small Enterprise (QSE) with annual revenue between R10 million and R50 million 
  • Registration: Company must be formally registered and in operation for at least 1 year
  • Compliance: Valid B-BBEE certificate or certified affidavit
  • Community requirement: Valid letter from your Traditional Council
