Senior Post Investment Associate

National Empowerment Fund are looking for a Senior Post Investment Associate.


Portfolio management

  • Analysis and monitoring of SPF investments from initial POIU involvement unit exit. 
  • Site visits to investee companies. 
  • Report back to NEF committees. 
  • Oversee investee legal compliance. 
  • Investee valuations and impairment calculations (if applicable).

Portfolio risk management

  • Quarterly risk analysis and reporting of investee companies (NEF internal and external). 
  • Regular risk rating trend analysis and monitoring. 
  • Liaison with NEF risk department. 
  • Liaison with internal and external audit departments.

Non-financial support

  • Manage the NEF mentor panel consultants per NEF investment. 
  • Consolidate the mentor, client and POIU feedback into the NEF committees reporting structures. 
  • Allocation and management of annual mentorship budget.

Knowledge management

  • Record keeping of deal related POIU "monitoring" documentation. 
  • Monitor and report back on Empowerment Dividend data. 
  • Incorporation of deals (post closure) into the NEF CRM database.

Human resources

  • Attend internal departmental committee meetings as and when necessary. 
  • Attend investee board (if nominated), steering, project or other meetings as when required. 
  • Draft and attend employee training plan.
  • Manage POIA's reporting to you (if applicable).

Knowledge and Expertise

  • Strong Project Management and Corporate Finance and/or Venture Capital experience (minimum of 5 years). 
  • Completed articles or have strong audit experience.
  • Good working knowledge of key commercial statues and regulations (e.g. Taxation, Companies Act, Commercial Law, Litigation and Insolvency Law). 
  • Financial modelling. 
  • Ability to analyse and interpret financial statements. 
  • Conduct enterprise valuations and exits on large complex deals. 
  • Proven track record of managing a diverse investment portfolio from a post investment perspective. 
  • At least 5 years deal making/investment experience. 
  • Various industry sector experience. 
  • Portfolio risk analysis experience. 
  • PC: MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint competency at an advanced level.

  • Graduate degree - minimum B.Com. (Business and Finance, Accounting). 
  • Honours degree - B.Com. (Finance, Accounting or CTA).
